The toll of COVID-19 on mental health is concerning and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Many are facing anxiety, depression, or high levels of stress. The goal of the COVID Mental Health Conference is to provide mental help assistance and much-needed resources to maneuver in this difficult time.

The COVID Mental Health Conference can provide assistance in this tumultuous climate to you if you are dealing with fear, worry, stress, and loss which can result in severe depression, suicide, child abuse, domestic violence, and a number of other symptoms.

Dr. Abdul Haleem Muhammad, Ph.D.
Brother/Dr. Abdul Haleem Muhammad (aka Robert S. Muhammad) was born in upstate New York, raised in New York City, and completed High School in Southern New Jersey.
Dr. Quevarra Moten
Lorri Key Barrett
Lorri Key Barrett, LCSW/MPH is a licensed clinical social worker in the greater Houston community. Her 20 years of experience allowed her to work in Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, and Florida in managed care, community health, and college counseling centers and psychiatric facilities.
Tuquwan X Smith
Tuquwan Smith is an educator in the greater Newark, NJ area. He has worked with inner-city youth for 18 years in the areas of education, he has coached basketball at the high school and collegiate level, and is a youth advocate.
Jenai Tidwell
Jenai Tidwell, MA, LPC-S, NCC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an LPC Supervisor in Texas. She maintains a group private practice, Fowler and Tidwell Counseling, and is the Clinical Director for The Hartwell Clinic, a holistic mental health practice.
DeNise Renee Muhammad
DeNise Renee Muhammad is originally from Palacios TX and currently resides in Houston TX. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville TX, in 1992.
South Park Coalition
South Park Coalition (S.P.C.) is a coalition of Houston hip hop rappers which K-Rino started in 1987, wanting to unite the talent in his South Park neighborhood and the city of Houston.

Conference Schedule
Dr. Adbdul Haleem Muhammad Ph.D. will open the conference by bringing to our attention the need for this timely conference including thought-provoking statics on COVID-related mental health concerns, discuss the role each of us plays in getting the healing we need, and discuss issues related to COVID affecting urban communities throughout Houston.
This presentation will take participants on a journey of Dr. Moten’s own lived experience of mental illness and how the conversation changed to gain support. This presentation will allow participants to gain an understanding of how the impact of support and resources can change the heaviness of the load.

We will explore some of the signs of online burnout among students, teachers, and parents. We will also explore some practical solutions that all can do to avoid or recover from online burnout. Lastly, we will extend some resources that students, parents, and teachers are using to get support.
The pandemic created an opportunity to focus more on our mental health and learn how to manage symptoms of depression. In today’s discussion, we talk about how depression shows up in Black Americans, why it’s important to have mental wellness and tools to manage in spite of. Depression, Stress, and Self Care will be discussed in this forum.

The impact of COVID on our society is vast and will be long lasting. Many have lost loved ones, job, and a sense of security. During this segment, we will discuss the impact of these losses and many others that were sudden and traumatic for most of us. Questions like, “How do you move forward with everything around me has change?” will be answered, and other questions.
Aromatherapy is currently used worldwide in the management of depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders. We will discuss what aromatherapy is, signs of mental instability, research studies on the benefits of essential oils and mental health, and we will show you 5 essential oils that can help with depression.
A wrap-up of the day’s event. We will highlight important points addressed in each session, provide follow-up resources, and provide each attendee with a survey to provide us with feedback. Our goal is to provide an exceptional conference that provides knowledge and resources needed to help individuals cope with the mental effects of Covid.
